Two men, ages 25 and 28, were killed in a shooting just before midnight Tuesday in a parking lot near the Port of New Orleans, and a third man was wounded in a separate shooting inside a nearby banquet hall the same night, authorities said.

Two Men Gunned Down Near the Port of New Orleans

Homicide Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old and 28-year-old. The Incident occurred just before midnight in a parking lot at the intersection of Henderson and Port of New Orleans Place. The name of the victims is being withheld pending notification of family members.

According to witnesses who stated they heard multiple gunshots rang in the parking lot. Officers arrived and found the 25-year-old victim unresponsive inside of a Silver Toyota and the 28-year-old was found lying on the ground. Both victims were shot multiple times and pronounced dead on the scene. Several unattended vehicles were also struck by bullets during the incident.

A handgun and multiple bullet casings were also recovered on the scene.

This investigation is VERY preliminary and investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

Homicide Detective Wayne Delarge is in charge of the investigation.

In a separate unrelated incident a 25-year-old man stated he was attending a music concert inside of a banquet hall in the 1400 block of Port of New Orleans Place, around 10pm. An unknown African American male approached him and fired a shot striking him in the shoulder. The victim was transported to the hospital where he’s listed in stable condition.

The suspect in this shooting is described as an African American male with a “Rick Ross” style beard, low hair cut with several gold teeth. The suspect was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and colorful tennis shoes. [Update: New Orleans police said Wednesday that this description refers to another person present at the shooting scene, not a suspect.]

Sixth District Detective Sandra Contreras is in charge of this investigation.
