SWBOver the next year and a half, the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans will replace all the city’s water meters with new models that can be read remotely, eliminating the need for meter readers and allowing residents to monitor their usage in real time, according to a recent report by Della Hasselle of our sister site at The utility is also moving toward entire water line replacements instead of “point repairs” on lines that break to reduce the amount of leakage across the system.

  1. Have a leak before the shutoff valve. Can’t get S&WB to fix it. Try getting in touch with them. Good luck with that.

  2. This is a wonderful innovation/improvement…..I guess that’s what we’re paying for with increased rates. I would like to know more about using our water fees to build a modernized system of delivery in the underground pipes…….
