Investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating a 48-year-old man they want to question in connection with the recent rash of armed robberies in the university and Broadmoor areas of Uptown — the latest of which was a holdup at a business Monday night on South Claiborne Avenue, New Orleans police said.

The man investigators want to talk to is John A. Lawrence, according to a NOPD news release. “This individual is not a suspect in any of the crimes,” the release states. “Detectives would like to interview this individual.”

Police are also looking for a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe seen leaving several of the crime scenes.

The university and Broadmoor areas have now seen a total of nine armed robberies since last Wednesday, following the latest case at 7:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of South Claiborne (between Milan and General Taylor), crime maps show. The suspect entered a business in the block with a gun and demanded money from the cashier, the initial report states.

Anyone with information is urged to call Second District detectives at 658-6020 or leave an anonymous tip at CrimeStoppers at 822-1111.
