After the recent publication of a letter from Archbishop Gregory Aymond saying that anyone involved in the construction of a Planned Parenthood clinic on South Claiborne Avenue is “cooperating with the evil that will take place there,” pro-life activists believe the pressure they have created has delayed the start of construction since the May groundbreaking, according to a report by Monica Hernandez of our partners at WWL-TV. Planned Parenthood has said 90 percent of its services are health care other than abortions, and that it does not perform the procedure at its clinic on Magazine Street, Hernandez notes.

  1. This has moved me to take action, and I’m making a donation to Planned Parenthood.

  2. I’m with Linda–this has moved me to make a donation to Planned Parenthood. I would also encourage Archbishop Aymond to brush up on his Bible, and I invite him to begin with Hosea 13:16. He might recall that G-d is not the “pro-life” advocate that some of his followers have fashioned him to be. The real evil lies in invoking his name in order to deny women the basic human right of healthcare–mammograms, pap smears and abortions included.

  3. More evidence of the absolute need to separate “church” and state.

    • What’s the state got to do with this? Boycotts have a long and honorable tradition in civil rights history. The Archbishop is taking a stand for the most basic of civil rights. No one’s being compelled to do anything.

  4. Does he plan to boycott the businesses who sell guns?

  5. Separation of Church and State was a wise move by our founding fathers !! protects us from the edicts of the present Archbishop of N.O.

  6. Abortion isn’t health care.

  7. Not to worry, nobody listens to the Archbishop.

  8. Archbishop-
Please look at the demographics, listen to Pope Francis-
“We cannot insist only on issues related to abortion, gay marriage and the use of contraceptive methods. This is not possible. I have not spoken much about these things, and I was reprimanded for that. But when we speak about these issues, we have to talk about them in a context…We have to find a new balance; otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel.” — Interview with Jesuit Catholic journals around the world.-

and put these action to context on how they prevent abortion.
They don’t, and do more harm than good in helping those those who need help the most.
Once done, this family planning Center is walkable from areas plagued with the highest incarceration rates on the face of the earth-

transforms formerly blighted and abandoned property, and is down the block from a Salvation Army Center of Hope-

How does this and help these people?
How does this prevent unwanted pregnancies?
It does not- and reads like a bad PR stunt that looks good- rather does good.
    Respectfully from 5110 Freret-

p.s. What’s up with the blocks of your vacant property at Lasalle and Napoleon Aves.? Abandoned now for 10+ (?) years?… Please sell lease or do SOMETHING!!!! it’s darkness and lack of eyes on the street hurts…

  9. A salute to the archbishop for standing up for the most innocent & defenseless of our fellow human beings.

  10. And the rest of us should call for a “boycott” of the men who diddle boys and the criminals who protect them – ie The Catholic Church
