The 800 block of Toledano (via NOPD)

A 32-year-old man was arrested Friday morning after a woman awoke to find him standing at the foot of her bed in a Toledano Street home in the Irish Channel, New Orleans police said.

The victim was asleep in her bed in the 800 block of Toledano (between Laurel and Annunciation) when she heard noises that woke her up around 5 a.m. Friday, according to the police report. She saw a man in a gray hooded sweater and blue jeans standing at the foot of her bed, so she screamed and ran to a neighboring home to call 911, the report states.

Based on the victim’s description of the man, NOPD Sixth District officers headed to a house in the next block to look for him, the report states. The person who answered the door initially thought the man was not there, but gave police permission to search, and they found him hiding in a back closet, the report states.

The suspect was identified as Jason Turner, 32, the report states. He is charged with unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, which carries a potential sentence of up to six years in prison, according to jail records.

[Note: No booking photo of Turner was immediately available.]

  1. His hoodie probably obscured his vision, and he thought he was in his own house.

  2. The windows have not metal protectors, doors and walls are made of wood, anyone can entry any house.
