A woman who was beaten and kicked in the head during a carjacking attempt in August died in late November after weeks of headaches, family members say, but the coroner’s office is still investigating her death and New Orleans police do not consider her death a murder, according to a report by Monica Herndandez of our partners at WWL-TV.

Tshepiso Matlapeng-Sani, a 34-year-old Jackson Square artist with a husband and a young daughter, was attacked Aug. 24 as she got out of her car near Baronne and Felicity streets, police said at the time. She had suffered from headaches before, but they intensified after the attacks, and doctors could not explain them prior to her death Nov. 30, Hernandez reports.
