Two men were stabbed in separate but similar incidents near the Pontchartrain Expressway overpass early Thursday and early Friday mornings, New Orleans police said.

In the first case, a man in his 50s was approached by another man who began “screaming, hitting him and cutting him with an unknown object” shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday at Calliope and Baronne streets, according to the initial police report. The victim suffered several stab wounds, the report states.

In the second case, a man in his late 20s was at Calliope and O.C. Haley Boulevard around 6 a.m. Friday when he was stabbed several times by an unidentified man, the report in that case states. That victim is listed in critical condition, the report states.
