The NOPD Second District will hold its monthly anti-crime walk in west-Carrollton and the NOPD Sixth District will march near A.L. Davis Park in Central City, both starting at 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 25), authorities said. Both will pass near the sites of two children recently killed by stray gunfire.
The Second District anti-crime march will start and end at Monroe and Willow streets in west Carrollton, officials said. Arabian Gayles, 11, was killed about two blocks away on General Ogden Street.
The Sixth District march will begin at A.L. Davis Park at Washington and LaSalle streets, then head down Danneel and Seventh before returning to the park. The route will pass near the block of South Saratoga, where 1-year-old Londyn Samuels was hit in a shooting that also wounded her babysitter, who was holding her at the time.
Residents of all neighborhoods are encouraged to join in the marches and support their neighbors.
