A woman selling ice cream from a van Friday evening on Leonidas Street in west Carrollton was robbed at gunpoint, police said.

The woman had just finished a few sales from a van at the corner of Green and Leonidas around 6:30 p.m. Friday, and ducked back inside to rearrange her coolers, NOPD Sgt. Ernest Crayton said Wednesday during the Second District’s weekly meeting of ranking officers. She looked back up, and outside there was a man pointing a gun at her and demanding the day’s takings, Crayton said.

The woman handed the money over and drove off, then called police from a friend’s house, Crayton said. The man was not wearing a mask, so investigators are hoping that she can provide enough information for a composite sketch of his face, said NOPD Second District Lt. Shaun Ferguson.

  1. Wait, this news items isn’t balanced. It appears to make New Orleans an unsafe city…..Perhaps it needs to talk about how sweet the ice cream tastes so people don’t think it’s the worse city in America.
