Two men were killed Sunday evening in a shooting that led one of them to crash a pickup near the edge of the Xavier University campus, authorities said.

Police found the first victim, a 19-year-old, around 8:30 p.m. lying face down in the middle of the street in the 3500 block of Audubon Court (near Edinburgh Street) around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a NOPD news release. The man had been shot once and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The second victim, aged 53, was found in the driver’s seat of a red pickup that crashed into a business a few blocks away at the intersection of Broadway Street and Washington Avenue, police said. He had been shot several times and was also pronounced dead, and investigators believe that he drove the short distance after being shot and then lost consciousness, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 822-1111. Detective Melanie Dillon of the NOPD homicide division is leading the investigation.
