A 47-year-old man was shot to death in Central City on Sunday evening, and a 27-year-old man was gunned down just off South Carrollton Avenue a few hours later, authorities said.
The Central City shooting took place around 7 p.m. in the 2500 block of Terpsichore Street (between Magnolia and South Robertson), where a man was found lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head, according to a NOPD news release.
Around 10 p.m., the 27-year-old was shot several times in the 8100 block of Belfast Street (between Carrollton and Dublin), a seperate news release states.
Both men were pronounced dead on the scene. The victims were later identified as Michael Jackson on Terpsichore and Ryan Williams on Belfast.
Also on Sunday evening, a man was shot in the leg in the 3900 block of Louisiana Avenue Parkway (one block off Broad Street) in Broadmoor, authorities said. The victim was walking near South Dorgenois and Louisiana Avenue Parkway around 7:40 p.m. when he heard gunshots, then saw a man shooting in his direction, police said. As the victim began to run away, he was hit in the left leg and left hand, so he then hid under a house until he felt it was safe to get to an acquaintance’s home on Toledano and call police, the report states.
Elsewhere in the city, a 19-year-old man was shot to death around 3 a.m. Monday on Elmira Street in Algiers.
