Police responded to a report of a sexual assault earlier this week on the stretch of Earhart Boulevard in Central City that runs along the edge of the Central Business District, initial reports show.

The incident was reported at 5 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Earhart Boulevard, according to the initial police report. It was recorded as an aggravated rape in police records, but described as oral sexual battery on the NOPD crime maps. Sex-crimes investigations are handled by a centralized group of detectives, not the individual police districts, and a request to NOPD officials for more information Monday has not received a response.

The incident’s location is about a block from where a woman was dropped by a man she initially thought was a taxi driver who picked her up in the French Quarter, then raped her elsewhere one night during Mardi Gras weekend. In November, two women were attacked and one raped on O.C. Haley Boulevard by a man also believed to be living under the overpass, officials said at the time. No arrests have been announced in either of those cases.
