New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a photograph of a man they call a “person of interest” in Monday’s kidnapping and rape in the Garden District.

The man in the photo is not considered a suspect, according to a NOPD news release; he is simply someone detectives want to talk to. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Derrick Williams of the NOPD Sex Crimes Unit at
504-658-5533, to email him at deawilliams@nola.gov or to call CrimeStoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll free at 1-800-903-7867 to leave an anonymous tip that could be eligible for a cash reward.

The investigation got another break Wednesday morning, when Officer Charles Hall of the NOPD First District was patrolling the 800 block of North Dorgenois and found the victim’s car abandoned there, allowing technicians to began scouring it for evidence, police said.

Meanwhile, the NOPD Sixth District has assigned a task force to the Garden District neighborhood where the assault took place, and the reward for information in the case has been increased to $6,000, according to a report from our partners at WWL-TV.
