The teenager accused of shooting 18-year-old Jamal Christian during a second line and leaving him to die in the bushes of a Central City schoolyard playground is back in jail this weekend, after prosecutors were initially unable to find him following his indictment.

Glenn Metz IV, who was recently indicted on one second-degree murder charge and two counts of attempted second-degree murder, had been released from prison after his grandfather put up two pieces of property to cover a $300,000 bond, according to an Eyewitness Investigation by Mike Perlstein of our partners at WWL-TV. District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro said Metz “should not be on the streets” — especially because Metz had pending drug and gun charges from July and August before the Sept. 25 slaying of Christian — but the magistrate defended the bond as appropriately high and difficult to make for most defendants, Perlstein reported:

Metz was booked back into jail Friday, records show. No bond has been set.

Hey, what’s the big deal about a missing murder suspect in New Orleans? Even if they lose one, there are plenty of others to go around.
