A man was stabbed in a struggle with a would-be robber on Magazine Street early Friday morning, police said. Meanwhile, investigators are looking for a man who attacked a woman leaving a Garden District bar and stole her purse earlier this week in a separate case, authorities said.

In Friday’s robbery, a man and a woman both in their 20s were near Eighth and Magazine Street around 1 a.m. when they were approached by a stranger wielding a plastic shotgun, demanding money, the initial police report states. They began to struggle, and a second attacker joined the fray, stabbing the male victim several times, for which he was later treated at the hospital and listed in stable condition, the report states.

The second attacker was also cut in the fight, and investigators were able to follow a blood trail that he left to find him, the report states. Thomas R. Warren, 22, was arrested on two counts of attempted armed robbery and a single count of aggravated battery.

In the purse-snatching case, the victim left Igor’s Bar on St. Charles Avenue around 5 a.m. Monday and was headed back to her car, but a man followed her to the intersection of Jackson and Carondelet. There, he tripped her, then punched and stepped on her before snatching her purse away, police said.

The man was caught on surveillance footage inside the bar, and anyone who can identify him should call the Sixth District station at 658-6060 or CrimeStoppers at 822-1111.
