Woman, 28, arrested in Uptown robbery of bicyclist hit by car

A 28-year-old woman was arrested late Thursday in connection with a violent holdup in which a bicyclist was hit by a car from behind before being robbed at gunpoint while still on the ground, police said.

Shantell Johnson robbed the bicyclist of his cash and credit cards during the Nov. 9 incident at Chestnut and General Taylor, according to a report from NOPD Sixth District Commander Bob Bardy. Police are now investigating whether Johnson was also responsible for a similar case in the Treme area.

Johnson is charged with a single count of armed robbery, jail records show.
