The reward offered for information leading to the recovery of “Skeeter,” an 11-year-old Chihuahua mix taken in a carjacking on Burdette Street last week, has climbed to nearly $4,000 with the recent donation of $2,500 from the owners of Bourbon Street’s famous “hand grenade” purveyors at Tropical Isle.

Tropical Isle Owners Help with Search for Carjacking Victim’s Dog By Donating a $2500 Reward

Losing your best friend can be a traumatic experience and it’s only worse when it happens during a carjacking. Meg, a victim of an uptown carjacking last week lost her best friend, Skeeter, an 11 year old Jack Russell & Chihuahua mix, when he was taken along with her car when she was carjacked. Tropical Isle owners Pam Fortner & Earl Bernhardt read about Meg’s desperate search for Skeeter and felt compelled to find a way to help bring Skeeter home to Meg.

Along with the recently doubled reward by Humane Society of Louisiana of $1,000, Fortner & Bernhardt have contributed $2500 to the reward in the hopes the amount would bring Skeeter home to Meg sooner. “Someone has got to notice that Skeeter isn’t in his right home and we know just how difficult it can be to be without your best friend, so we wanted to do what we could to help bring Skeeter home to Meg as soon as possible.” Explained Pam Fortner, co-owner of Tropical Isle.

The owners of Tropical Isle hope that the reward will not only help raise awareness of Skeeter’s abduction, but that the news of the increased reward will also encourage anyone with information that can lead to bringing Skeeter home to Meg would come forward quickly. “Everyone who reads about Meg’s situation really wants to bring Skeeter home to Meg, especially everyone at Tropical Isle. “ Commented Earl Bernhardt, Tropical Isle’s other co-owner.

  1. To those who have donated for the precious dog’s return, I sincerely thank you. There is nothing as sad as the loss of a beloved dog somewhere within your reach.
