An unoccupied home in Central City was damaged by a fire that broke out late Thursday morning, authorities said.

The fire broke out in the 2200 block of South Robertson shortly before 10 a.m., and at least one of the walls of the home took heavy damage, New Orleans firefighters said. The fire also reached into the attic, but the extent of the damage was not immediately clear.

The home sits in a row of houses that have long stood empty, and that are sometimes frequented by vagrants, neighbors said. Windows on the houses on either side of the damaged home are boarded up.
