Local schools governed by the Recovery School District and Orleans Parish School board will remain closed through Thursday, officials announced.

To completely assess the impact of Hurricane Isaac on school facilities and to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff prior to the reopening of schools, Recovery School District (RSD) and Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) officials have announced an extension of the closure of schools and cancellation of all after-school activities through Thursday, August 30.
RSD schools in Baton Rouge, St. Helena and Pointe Coupee are scheduled to reopen, on Thursday, August 30. RSD and OPSB District Offices are also slated to reopen on Thursday.
Both districts will provide an update by 5 p.m., Wednesday, regarding the status of schools for Friday, August 31.The information will be relayed through local media and will also be shared on the districts’ respective websites and social media channels.
