Garvin Scott was arrested Wednesday, according to a NOPD news release:
Yesterday, New Orleans Police and the United States Marshals Service arrested 23-year-old Garvin Scott for the murder of 19-year-old Brandon Baker.
On the evening of April 20, 2012, Baker was found lying on the steps of an abandoned residence in the 2900 block of Eagle Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Baker died on the scene.
Through further investigation, Scott was positively identified as the person responsible for the murder and an arrest warrant was obtained for Second Degree Murder.
Scott was initially located in the Uptown area, and after an unsuccessful attempt to elude capture, Scott was apprehended by police in Jefferson Parish.
Scott has three felony arrests, five misdemeanor arrests and one traffic arrest. Scott is presently on probation for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Heroin (February 2008-February 2013) and was previously arrested for Felon with a Firearm, Aggravated Criminal Damage, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Distribution of Narcotics, Traffic Attachments, Traffic Violations and Warrants.
