An unusual mugging in the Irish Channel in which a victim was forced at gunpoint to remove his pants was repeated a day later in the French Quarter, according to Tania Dall of our partners at WWL-TV.

Meanwhile, despite two robbery-related arrests in the area this week, yet another mugging took place at Washington and Chippewa about 2 a.m. Friday, the same place where a woman was robbed at gunpoint 48 hours earlier.

  1. if more citizens would arm themselves and fight back we could exterminate the predators…..nobody should EVER endanger themselves, but if you get a chance to take a shot, you might just end up doing the community a great service……the courts will not protect us…..eradication of predators is far and away the best solution…..a dead predator does not mug anybody

  2. Is there ANY police presence in that neighborhood? I lived uptown in the 60s on Spruce, near
the Tulane campus and do not remember any such problems. I could walk to and from my studio in the Art Department any hour of the day or night without even thinking about getting mugged or attacked by anyone. Of course that was the beginning of the end of New Orleans as a thriving and vibrant city, not dependent entirely on tourism for survival. After I returned to New Orleans from New York in 1994, I was appalled at how the old neighborhood looked.

  3. I’m ready to lessen our tax load. I’ve got an over/under .45 ready for these a-holes. Its only a matter of time.
