Robert Wells (via NOPD)

A patient suffering from schizophrenia who has a history of violent behavior went missing from a psychiatric hospital near Touro Infirmary Wednesday evening, and police are seeking the public’s help in finding him.

From the NOPD news release:

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 24-year-old Robert Wells, who was last seen on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at about 8:40 P.M., at the Community Care Hospital located in the 1400 block of General Taylor Street.

Wells suffers with Schizophrenia and has a history of violent behaviour. Wells is in need of his medication. Hospital staff advised this is the first time Wells has gone missing and has not been seen or heard from.

Robert Wells is described as an African-American male, 6’4” tall, weighing approximately 280 pounds and has a dark complexion. Wells was last seen wearing all green scrubs and a black leather jacket.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Robert Wells is asked to call the New Orleans Police Department at 821-2222.

  2. Seriously, have you seen how they operate Community Care Hospital? It’s disgusting. They parade the patients through the lobby to the cafeteria right by the front door. The “security guard” is an elderly gentleman who can barely stand. The health care community in New Orleans IS BROKEN.
    Why do you think there are so many criminals in our city? Because of lack of education and mental health care. Thanks Bobby Jindal, just wait until you have mental health issues “in your back yard.”
